Pride in Maltby is a community-led partnership backed by government investment. It brings local people, organisations and services together to make Maltby an even better place to live, work and visit, with local voices at the heart of every decision.
Where the money could go
Nationally, Pride in Place investment spans everyday improvements to transport, high streets, sport and leisure, arts and culture, and community resources. Locally, the Pride in Maltby Board is working with residents to decide what that looks like here, including on the town's high street and its sporting facilities.
Improved public spaces, restored buildings and new facilities that bring life back to town centres.
Better pitches, parks and grassroots sports clubs, giving communities places to come together and get active.
Family hubs, youth centres and community spaces for people of all ages.
Better local roads and transport links, making everyday journeys quicker and safer.
Investment in arts, culture and heritage venues that communities can access locally.
A town with a story
Maltby's identity was forged over a century, and it's still visible in the town today. Pride in Place investment is here to build on that, not replace it.
Maltby Main Colliery was sunk in the early 1900s and produced coal for over a century, shaping the town and generations of its people until it closed in 2013.
Built to house the colliery's growing workforce, its streets remain part of the town's character and community today.
Maltby Main Football Club was founded in 1916 by colliery workers and still plays on today, carrying the nickname into a new century.
From the Maltby Miners Welfare Band to today's grassroots clubs and volunteers, that same togetherness is what this programme is here to build on.
The area
Pride in Maltby is centred on Maltby East, and funding can also reach activity in neighbouring wards, provided Maltby East residents benefit too.
At the board's meeting on 17 July 2026, the Chair confirmed that the board should be regarded as the Maltby Pride in Place Board, rather than being solely focused on the Maltby East area. Jake Richards MP has since confirmed that funding can be awarded to projects outside the designated boundary, provided that residents of Maltby East also benefit from the activity. In light of that, the board agreed not to pursue a formal boundary change to include Maltby West and Hellaby. On this basis, the programme submission has been sent to the Section 151 Officer for approval, and feedback is currently awaited.
