Pride in Place Maltby is a community-led partnership that brings together local people, organisations and services to make Maltby an even better place to live, work and visit. It's funded by government, with local voices at the heart of how it's spent.
£20 million is available for Maltby, over the next ten years.
At the board's meeting on 17 July 2026, the Chair confirmed that the board should be regarded as the Maltby Pride in Place Board, rather than being solely focused on the Maltby East area. Jake Richards MP has since confirmed that funding can be awarded to projects outside the designated boundary, provided that residents of Maltby East also benefit from the activity. In light of that, the board agreed not to pursue a formal boundary change to include Maltby West and Hellaby. On this basis, the programme submission has been sent to the Section 151 Officer for approval, and feedback is currently awaited.
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is supporting around 300 Pride in Place projects nationally. MHCLG has asked for biographies from board members across the programme, to help demonstrate the diversity and breadth of experience of the people delivering it, Maltby's board included.
No, they're separate. The Towns and Villages Fund is delivering its own scheme in Maltby, the Maltby High Street Improvements project, covering resurfaced footpaths, new street furniture and lighting, planters, and improvements to historic features along the High Street through to the Queens Crossroads junction. You can read about that scheme on the Rotherham Council Towns and Villages Fund page. Pride in Maltby is a different, larger programme with its own funding and its own resident-led board.
The Pride in Maltby Board, made up of local residents and people with strong ties to the area, chaired by Warren Carratt, and including Maltby's MP Jake Richards. The board's role is to listen to the community, set priorities, and make sure projects reflect what people in Maltby really need.

RotherFed is leading the community consultation on behalf of the Pride in Maltby Board, and residents can share their views, priorities and aspirations for the area through the Your Views: Maltby East survey. The programme can fund things like a more welcoming town centre, improvements to the high street, better parks and grassroots sporting facilities, opportunities for young people, and support around employment and health and wellbeing. Exactly what that looks like in Maltby will be shaped by resident priorities.
The board is due to submit its Pride in Place Plan to government for assessment and approval by 30 November 2026, following a summer of community consultation.
No. Pride in Place funding is provided by government specifically for Maltby, and sits alongside the council's usual spending rather than replacing it. Rotherham Council works alongside the Pride in Maltby Board to deliver the programme, but decisions on spending sit with the board.
